New York Real Estate License Renewal Requirements
Here is a summary of CE requirements for agents wishing to renew a real estate license in the state of New York.
Real Estate licensees are required to successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved real estate continuing education within their two year license term, prior to renewal. Effective for renewals on or after July 1, 2008, the 22.5 hours must include at least three hours of instruction pertaining to fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property.
Our ADA & Fair Housing course (M9055000) satisfies the mandatory 3 hr fair housing requirement.
Any salesperson who successfully completes an approved broker qualifying course (which requires passing the final exam) will receive credit for continuing education for their current two year sales license renewal period.
Real Estate courses are approved and supervised by the Department of State. All inquiries and complaints against approved schools should be directed to the Bureau of Educational Standards.
Please note: Licensing rules are subject to change. To verify course requirements, please contact the NY Division of Licensing Services, Bureau of Education Standards at (518) 486-3803 or visit their website at http://www.dos.state.ny.us/lcns/realestate/index.html.
